ISOVER provided insulation solutions for the KilmaHaus Project in Bremerhaven, a unique attraction combining entertainment and educational climate experience in the Bremerhaven Harbor that will provide visitors with a virtual voyage along the 8th degree line of longitude. This project won the first prize for a photo competition organized by Isover G+H in order to promote innovative and architectural projects made with Saint-Gobain Products.
Three clearly structured exhibition areas over 11,000 sq meters show the visitors from June 2009 the whole world of climate. Every year, 600,000 visitors will experience a fascinating journey along the 8th line of longitude around the earth through different climate zones. The elements section of the exhibition illustrates the simple principles and complex inter-relationships of climatic and weather phenomena in an entertaining way. In the perpectives section the visitors can take a look athe the past and the future of our planet and create their own weather forecasts. Furthermore Kilmahaus offeres facilities for different events like congresses, conferences, symposia, etc. and will also assist schools to facilitate learning. With 8 completely different climates from hot and humid to cold and dry, the Kilmahaus is the ultimate challenge for every climate engineer. The room and energy requirements go far beyond the scope of conventional systems. Yet, the demanding construction form of the organic building of the Klimahaus is a technical challenge. It not only needs to be capable of creating different climate for the 9,000 sq meter exhibition area, but also the exhibits such as the big aquariums and accomodating the 5,000 daily visitors.
