As one of only seven dedicated paediatric hospitals in the UK, the landmark development contains 100 inpatient beds, three operating theatres, diagnostic and treatment facilities, an intensive care unit, cancer day centre, parent accommodation and children’s sun-decked play areas with panoramic views along the Brighton seafront. • Isover provided more than 10,000m² of APR 1200 glass wool boards for the construction of the new children’s hospital in Brighton. The product was chosen for the construction of this new ultramodern unit because of its high level of acoustic performance for dry wall system, as well as for its fire resistance.
The client was Kajima Construction Europe/ Brighton & Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust. BDP was appointed as architect, interior designer, building services engineer, civil & structural engineer, lighting designer and acoustic consultant for the £36 million project.
